“I would learn the words which He would answer,
And understand what He would say to me.
“Would He contend against me with His great power?
No, surely He would give attention to me.
Job 23:5-6
New Year – Same God
I’d like you to read these verses a few times and let them sink in before we unpack them today.
The first thing I thought of was Adam and Eve in the garden. In Genesis, God talks with Adam and Eve. They had a real relationship with Him and I see the same with Job. Based on what we read in all of Job’s responses so far, talking with God was a daily habit for him. I just love his response in these verses, because it shows his relationship with the Lord. He says, “I would learn the words, I would understand, He would give attention to me.” Job wouldn’t just hear the Lord and then not do what He said. He would learn the words, study them and understand them. He knew God would give him His attention – He’s a personal God. These verses are packed with so much wisdom that we can also take hold of.
When God speaks to you, do you learn the words and understand what He says to you? Do you believe He gives you His attention? I love what my Pastor says, “God is already there waiting to meet with you.” The same God who had a relationship with Adam, Eve and Job wants a relationship with you. Spend some time with our Lord today, talk with Him and let Him answer you. Then learn and understand what He says to you. He’s already there waiting to meet with you. https://youtu.be/Rmg0UGllTp8
It’s a new year, but He’s the Same God of Job and of you.
