“He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people,
totally committed to doing good deeds.” Titus 2:14
For some reason, I glanced over this verse before and didn’t see it jump off the page at me as it did today. Jesus sacrificed himself for us that he might purchase our freedom from every lawless deed. Jesus sacrificed himself for you to give you freedom from every sin you ever committed. Freedom! (Not living in bondage to the lawless deeds that once choked the life out of you!) But it gets better!! Not only did He sacrifice himself for your freedom, but He also purified for himself a people who are his very own. If you’ve placed your trust in Jesus as your Savior, you are His very own. The end of this verse says, “passionate to do what is beautiful in his eyes.” Am I passionate to do what is beautiful in the Lord’s eyes or my own? Ouch!! If He sacrificed himself for me, purchased my freedom and purified me for His very own, I should be more passionate to do what is beautiful in His eyes than my own. How about you? Together today, let’s thank our Savior for His sacrifice, our freedom, purifying us for His very own and ask Him to show us what to do with passion that is beautiful is in His eyes.
