You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
New Year – Same God
Isaiah 26:3-4 immediately made me think of John 14:27. Jesus said, “I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” He is perfect and has given us His perfect peace through the Holy Spirit. Do you want to inhale the Lord’s perfect peace right now? If so, then how do we obtain His perfect peace? Our verses today give us the answer.
We keep perfect peace when our minds are fixed on Christ and we trust Him. Anything else we try to think of does not give us peace. Think about it. What do you have to do today? Is your mind at rest thinking about all the things you have to get done? Now, breathe in and look full into the face of your wonderful Savior. Think of Him and all that He is. Say His name out loud. Tell Him you trust Him with all that is happening right now. Read His Word and pray to Him. These steps will eventually become habits to have perfect peace of heart and mind; it is the gift Jesus tells us that He left us with.
Philippians 4:7 calls it the peace that passes all understanding. Philippians 4:8 says to fix our thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and worthy of praise. All of those words describe our Jesus. Thinking of worldly things keeps us anxious. Keeping our minds fixed on our Lord, praying to Him throughout our day, and trusting in Him will give us His perfect peace in our hearts and minds.
It’s a new year, but He’s the Same God of Isaiah and you.
