Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
New Year – Same God
I have been having some church up in my living room today! Normally, I write the devotion and then listen to a song that goes along with what the Lord showed me to write about…but not this morning. I read these words and started singing, “Taste and See.” I encourage you to listen to the link provided by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. I LOVE this song, but the ending is my favorite part on the video. The whole choir and church start in a praise and worship fest that is outwardly, publicly declaring the goodness of God! The song ends and the praise continues!
You can hear about a new restaurant being good or watch a recipe being made online. Until you’ve gone there or made the recipe for yourself, you can’t know or taste that it is good. Our experience is different when we can actually taste and see something. David knew this firsthand; he tasted and saw the goodness of the Lord.
My life has certainly taken a different turn than what was anticipated, but I have tasted and saw the goodness of the Lord! How about you? Can you magnify, extol and praise our God that He is good, even if what you’re going through isn’t good? He is the best full course meal you will ever lay eyes on and ingest. The food in this life is temporary, but the spiritual food of His goodness will last forever.
Sing to the Lord and thank Him for tasting and seeing His goodness. Then, keep the sweet incense of praise going up to Him after the song has ended. https://youtu.be/DfW2mkkMTAg
It’s a new year, but He’s the Same God of David and of you.
