26 On the fourth day they gathered in the Valley of Blessing,
[a] which got its name that day because the people praised and thanked the Lord there.
It is still called the Valley of Blessing today.
2 Chronicles 20:26
New Year – Same God
This verse was so powerful to me this morning and I pray it is for you too. Notice it does not say the Mountain of Blessing…it says Valley. Merriam-Webster’s definition of Valley: 1: an elongate depression of the earth’s surface usually between ranges of hills or mountains 2: a low point or condition. We’re going to use the 2nd definition to see God in the valley. To set up today’s verse, let’s go a few verses back. “After consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising him for his holy splendor. This is what they sang: “Give thanks to the Lord; his faithful love endures forever!” At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves.” 2 Chronicles 20:21-22 NLT They didn’t sing for Him to take away the battle, they praised Him for His holy splendor and thanked Him for who He was!! Wow! Powerful! What are you singing while the battle is raging in front of and around you? Are you praising Him in it? Notice what happened when they started praising the Lord? The Lord caused the armies to fight among themselves, because the people were focused on the Lord. What is your low point or condition right now? Can you praise Him in it and name it the Valley of Blessing? God is faithful! Today lift your eyes and voice to the Lord, praise Him for His holy splendor and watch what He does. In the very place you’re praising Him, call it, “The Valley of Blessing.” The blessings happen in the valley when we choose to lift Him higher in our battle. It’s a new year, but He’s the same God.
